Penrith Whitewater Stadium was the competition venue for the canoe/kayak slalom events during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. It is the only man-made whitewater course of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Available from September to June for guided whitewater rafting, self-guided whitewater rafting, whitewater kayaking and kayak instruction, Other facilities include beach volleyball court and Cafe.
The Sydney International Regatta Centre offers superior facilities and a large-scale festival venue. Set on 178 hectares of picturesque parklands and bush with views of the lower Blue Mountains, it has one of the best rowing and sprint kayak courses in the world.
Penrith Lakes Environment Education Centre is located inside the Penrith Lakes Scheme and adjacent to the Sydney International Regatta Centre. The unique location of the centre provides students with an opportunity to study industrial and urban development. Programs focus on the environmental management aspects of a massive quarrying and rehabilitation operation.
